The former Coronation Street actress has spoken out candidly about her new life as a mother. Since giving birth to adorable daughter Matilda in June 2015, she’s taken a step out of the spotlight – but she’s made it absolutely clear that she couldn’t be happier!
‘I absolutely love being a mum and every stage of it,’ she told Fabulous magazine. ‘She’s my dream come true.’
After calling herself ‘the broodiest woman in Britain’ in 2013, she was over the moon to fall pregnant with her footballer partner Scott Sinclair, within a few months. However, 25-year-old Helen also told truths about some of the more sombre elements of her life – and admitted that she’s been seeing a therapist to help with her anxiety.
‘I’ve always struggled with anxiety. It’s horrible and can control your life.
‘Matilda inspires me to be the best person I can be and I don’t want to pass any negative energy or behaviour down to her, so I’ve been seeing a therapist once a week for a while and things have really improve.’
Helen’s been open about mental health for quite a few years, and first revealed her diagnosis with ADHD and bipolar disorder in 2012. However, she’s come a long way since:
‘CBT [cognitive behavioural therapy] gets to the root of any problem, so I feel in a good place now,’ she continued. ‘It’s something I will always work on, but I don’t take medication any more.’
Glad to hear she’s doing so well!
